What we do.

When we first started this company, like many others, we relied on popular shopping centers, convenience stores, and upscale boutiques for our go-to products. As we progressed through life, we realized that scent and appearance play a significant role in presenting oneself. Unfortunately, maintaining elegance and style often came with a high price tag, making quality fragrances inaccessible to many.

At Backstreet Essence, we prioritize making luxury affordable. Our mission is to bring exquisite, high-end colognes within reach by offering competitive prices that fit your budget. Providing the same quality products at a fraction of the cost you'd find at local stores is what we do. Now, you can enjoy elegance without compromising on price.

fragrance knowledge.

Colognes and perfumes come in different concentrations, which refer to the amount of fragrance oils mixed with alcohol and water. These concentrations affect the strength, longevity, and intensity of the scent. Here’s a breakdown of the main categories :

1. Eau de Cologne (EDC) • Fragrance Oil Concentration: 2-5% • Longevity: 1-2 hours • Description: The lightest concentration of fragrance, often fresh and subtle. It is ideal for those who want a quick refresh or prefer very light scents. Because of its low oil concentration, it doesn’t last long and may need to be reapplied throughout the day.

2. Eau de Toilette (EDT) • Fragrance Oil Concentration: 5-15% • Longevity: 3-5 hours • Description: One of the most common fragrance concentrations, often lighter and more affordable than stronger perfumes. It’s suitable for everyday wear and is versatile for both daytime and casual evening occasions. It provides a noticeable but not overpowering scent.

3. Eau de Parfum (EDP) • Fragrance Oil Concentration: 15-20% • Longevity: 6-8 hours • Description: Stronger and more long-lasting than Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum offers a more intense and concentrated fragrance. It’s often richer, with deeper base notes, and is ideal for both daytime and evening wear. You can expect it to linger longer on the skin and clothes.

4. Parfum (Extrait de Parfum or Pure Perfume) • Fragrance Oil Concentration: 20-30% (sometimes up to 40%) • Longevity: 8-12 hours or more • Description: The most concentrated and luxurious form of fragrance, with the highest amount of fragrance oils. Parfum is rich, long-lasting, and a little goes a long way. It tends to be more expensive due to its high concentration of oils. It is usually reserved for special occasions and formal settings because of its intense sillage (the trail of scent it leaves).

5. Eau Fraîche • Fragrance Oil Concentration: 1-3% • Longevity: 1-2 hours • Description: Similar to Eau de Cologne, but even lighter, with a much lower concentration of fragrance oils. Eau Fraîche is primarily water-based and has a very subtle scent, often refreshing and barely noticeable after a few hours. Key Takeaways: • Longevity and strength increase with the concentration of fragrance oils. • Lighter concentrations like Eau de Cologne and Eau Fraîche are ideal for casual, frequent use. • Stronger concentrations like Eau de Parfum and Parfum are more intense, last longer, and are suited for special occasions or long-lasting wear. The choice of concentration depends on personal preference, the occasion, and how long you want the scent to last on your skin.
